23 December 2011

I took off for the country and went to see my neices and to bake for Christmas with their mom. They decorated gingerbread men and women while Christy and I baked. We had soooo much fun. I'm going to learn how to upload pics to my blog in 2012. Night ya'll, Lynn

13 December 2011

Well, I want to first say thank you to the Lord above for hearing the prayers of His people. I haven't shared this with my Facebook friends or blog friends but James had a physical and his PSA was 25.1. For those of you none medicos, the normal is 0-5. He had a biopsy on the 6th of this month and the results were negative!!! He doesn't have prostate cancer!! I have been on the opposite end of the medical field this past month and it is a scary and frustrating time waiting for results!!
We don't always know why we go through situations but I have had perfect peace through all of this. We decided at the beginning that we were going to praise the Lord regardless of the outcome. We truly praised Him in this storm!

8 December 2011

Two days ago, I got to do something that I have never done before. Wish my dad a happy 86th birthday! We gave him a sound amplifier that looks like a bluetooth. I really bought it for mom. She will not have to listen to the TV so loud. He is precious! He wanted to know if it could be used with his cell phone. I guess our next purchase for him will be a bluetooth! Lord help us!!!

16 October 2011 "This And That"

Sorry it has been so long since I've written a post but you know how it is. Friday night we enjoyed a pizza at Tigertown Pizza. The sausage and onion was so good and chewy!! Then we came home and enjoyed our computers and washed clothes. We slept in and started clothes again. We went to the grocery store to resupply our stash of Dr. Pepper 10. Contrary to the current commercial, Dr. Pepper 10 is for women too!! Why can't we like it too?? Today, we went to church and will cook this afternoon for Act II, the drama team from North Greenville University. We interrupt this post for a shout out.....Way to go Crusaders!!! Act II is awesome. Come and see them and you won't be sorry!!

3 October 2011

This past weekend was busy and fun. Friday night, we spent the night in Greenwood at James' mom's house after we ate at the Palmetto Pizza Palace with Casey and her friend, Kyle. Saturday, we slept late (and it felt so good). We cleaned up and went to the hospital and saw our nephew, Ray. Please pray for him. He has Crohn's disease and it is flaring. He was discharged on Sunday. Later, we headed to North Greenville to Parent's weekend. We braved the cold weather to cheer the Crusaders to victory. We ate supper at Waffle house (I had a big bowl of grits and they were SO good). Then we headed home. We had church on Sunday and lunch at Bojangles!!
Great weekend but just TOO STINKIN' SHORT!!!!!! Night Ya'll, Lynn

19 September 2011

Today has been a bad day. My fibro has acted up today. I was still able to work, though. We went to eat Chinese and then to the grocery store. Later, we went to visit a church member. I am grateful that the bad days are less than the good days. I am enjoying reading until Castle comes on. Night ya'll, Lynn

29 August 2011

The Beach was great this afternoon!! I picked up all of the sandollars that I could possibly want. They are so beautiful!! I could live here and make shell items for a living. God showed out once again when he made shells. They are just like our thumb print, each one, one of a kind. I have never seen so many shells. I can't wait to cover an old bottle with the shells. I need to look up my old faithful glue gun. Maybe I do need to go back to reality.... Night ya'll, Lynn

28 August 2011

The vacation thing is great but.... it is also teasing. You go and enjoy yourself and then you have to go home. What a letdown. Reality sets in. You spend your days dreaming of the great time you had and want to go back. This is while you're slaving away at the job that you have. We are still enjoying our time on Jekyll but I know it's coming. I love my life and all that goes with it. But the pull of the sea and lighthouses are always at the back of my mind. Jesus is my lighthouse... I guess that this is why I love lighthouses SO much. We had a picnic lunch today at the lighthouse on St. Simon's Island and then climbed the light. I still haven't figued out how to add pictures to my blog. But I am going to figure it out so that you can see the view that we saw today. A-mazing does not do it justice!! God really showed off when He made the world. Anywhere you go, it is beautiful. We are looking forward to Tuesday am. We were able to get a limited reservation to go to Sapelo Island and see the lighthouse there. I cannot wait. Night ya'll, Lynn

21 August 2011

What is on my mind this afternoon ? The countdown has officially started !!!!! WOO HOO !!!!!
4 days till we start celebrating
4 days til I'm free
a short, short workweek
4 days to my favorite beach on the east coast
4 days till I can pretend that I am retired or wealthy enough for trips anytime I want to go
4 days to see my favorite lighthouse SSI or St. Simon's Lighthouse

What is all of this babbble you say?????
James and I are leaving in the truck, pulling our vacation home to Jekkyl Island on Thursday morning to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary. There are no campgrounds on SSI so we camp on neighboring Jekkyl Island. We plan a day trip to SSI to see the lighthouse, walk around in town and visit our favorite bookstore. The rest of the time, we will do whatever.... read, scrapbook, watch TV, sleep.....
Can you tell that I'm excited???
Now off to take a nap and to dream of the week to come.mmmmmmmm

Grape Soda + Bing Cherries = LOVE

My hubby likes to bring me things when he goes out to shop. It's never something that costs alot. But to me it says love. Today, it was two of my favorites - grape soda and cherries. Not necessarily together, though. Thank you honey for the sweet treats!! Night ya'll, Lynn

The Sun Really Did Come Out Tomorrow

As of last Saturday, Katie and Johnny had a house full of furniture!! The kitchen is fully stocked and more. They are going through getting addresses
changed and water turned off and on at the new place, etc. God has protected them and blessed them immensely through this and He gets the glory and honor. Thanks for praying for them and continue to do so!! Afternoon ya'll, Lynn

The Loss Of Everything

Today started on a sad note. Our dear friends, Katie and Johnny Duncan, had a house fire and lost almost all that they had. They were able to rescue their clothes. It is so overwhelming... what can you do for someone who has nothing? I am a hands on person and I hope that by this weekend, we can help them with the clean up or something. They are so dear to us and we have been through so much together. Please pray for them by name.

A Mixture Of Emotions

Today was bad this morning. We then went to eat pizza at The Mill House and it was A-Mazing. Then we went to the Clemson baseball game. We left before it got ugly. We ate at Sonic and it was yummy! We came home for headlines and it was not on!! Then for the sad part...a friend of ours in Myrtle Beach was killed today working on his boat. How sad. That just proves the point that we never know. David is enjoying heaven, but his family is grieving. If you are reading this, please pray for the Null family. Night ya'll, Lynn

Wedding Bliss

We traveled 2 hours today to a good friend's daughters wedding. We had a great time seeing everyone and talking to them. The bride was beautiful!!!
The humidity and the GNATS were not. I remember now why I don't miss that place. The people are great though!!! Night ya'll, Lynn

Let's just say that my itch has been scratched

We headed out on Friday afternoon to Oconee State Park. James had been asked by our dear friends to preach while they were gone from their church yesterday. Yes, Poplar Spring folks, you were missed. Anywho, I got turned around and went to Westminster instead of Walhalla and was late getting there with our supper. James wasn't miffed at all about his supper being cold, he was just glad that I was ok. We slept in late (what is that?) and jumped in the convertible and had a wonderful, romantic day. We wound through the mountains and came out in Dillard, Ga. We ate at the Dillard House. It was - oh - my - goodness, make-you wanna-slap-your-grandma-good!! I couldn't afford to eat there often but it was worth it. We came back so we could see our girl. She came to the camper and we watched movies and had a good time. We met some sweet new friends at the Monte Vista Baptist Church yesterday. So... I had been itching to spend some time in our camper, and now that itch has been scratched. That is, for a week or two at least. Night ya'll, Lynn

One thing to not do in a convertible

You guessed it. I picked the convertible to ride in today to my 5:30 appointment to open a new pt. As per my M.O. (or mode of operation), I began to put on my makeup. Yes, James was driving! Lotion.Check. Undereye Concealer.Check. Liquid Makeup....... Uncheck...all over my new cute skirt from the QVC out-let that I paid all of $5.00 for. Lesson learned. NEVER try to put on makeup in a convertible. James says, "Good idea." Night ya'll, Lynn

Rainey Days and Mondays

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while but I have been half lazy and half busy. I used to always be home on Monday evenings but recently I have been busy, busy, busy. Last night, we met dear friends at the Greenville Drive game and had a fabulous time. We ate at the Liberty Tap Room. I had a steak and cheese sandwich and homemade potato chips. It got a little chilly but I had a coat with me. We took Casey some items that she needs in her "apartment". I miss her and it's hard to believe that she has a job and is living on her own. My babies are adults now. I hope that we've honored God in the way that we raised them. Love you Joshua and Casey. Night ya'll, Lynn

Whew!! What A Day

Whew, what a day !! We got up and went to a meeting about Bible School and I came home and promptly fell asleep. I got up and did some laundry and got ready for my adopted grandson's first birthday party. He is so precious. He stuck his head in the cake and went for it. His brother took some icing and smeared it all over his face. It was so cute. Now, I'm home cooking for tomorrow. I am making out hamburger patties and potato salad. I will make baked beans tomorrow. Can't wait to celebrate Mother's Day with my mom and James' mom. It will be a great day!!!

Two Faced Christians

I know it's Sunday and it is a day of rest but I can't rest until I get this off of my chest. Why do so many Christians work so hard behind the scenes to undermine the pastor's leadership? We brought a bus from James' second job to church. He wants to sell it. There were some people behind the scenes spreading untruths about the bus before anyone even said ANYTHING about the church buying it. It was just brought so that everyone could see it. James will not even recommend that we buy it. The seniors have a hard time getting into the van as they have to step over the wheel well to get to the back seats. It will be so great for all the outings that the church goes on. So we will see what happens. Thanks for listening to my rants. Now I can take a nap. Love, Lynn

There ARE Angels

I'm not sure, but I think that strawberries have to be planted every year. But I went by my strawberry bed from last year and there are strawberry plants and actual strawberries on the vine. I felt like my MaMa was there with me at that minute. I still miss her SO much. She loved flowers and loved to plant strawberries. There are so many questions that I want to ask her and not just about plants. I want to know about when she was young and about when she and Dada married. If you have grandparents, spend ALL the time with them that you can. One day you will want them and they won't be there.

Monday, Monday

I am truly happy that I have a job to go to every day but as Sunday evening has come and gone, I am dreading Monday morning. I am hurting more and more in my hands. I'm not sure what is causing it either.
We had a wonderful surprise this evening at church. Our dear friends, Larry and Gerry Ward, came to surprise us and attend church with us. Larry agreed to sing one song for us. He is coming back in May for a full concert. We didn't want them to leave. Thank you God for all the blessings that you give us every day. I am truly grateful. Night ya'll, Lynn

The Sun Will (Did) Come Out Tomorrow

Some burdens have been lifted and I physically feel SO much lighter. I was blessed so much at church today. I had a student in Sunday School, two for children's message and two for Children's Church. Kids are so honest and so much fun. The story that the little boy told about heaven needs to be heeded. Jesus thinks that children are very important.
As Casey says... This is random. I have stopped taking Effexor. I am trying to stop all of the synthetic chemicals that I can. But, that said, I am having trouble with the hot flashes. I may have go back on it. I'd rather do that... than take hormones. Even though I know that in postmenopausal women, it can actually prevent breast cancer. I had the fan in my hand the whole day at church. It's not a fun feeling. Effexor is better than taking a shower one minute and feeling like I jumped back in the water the next minute. Men, be glad that the Lord blessed you by sparing you from menopause. What an oxymoron --- MEN - O - PAUSE. Men's mid-life crisises are their menopauss but theirs is fun. Convertibles, new girlfriends, new hobbies. Do you girls see a problem here ?? Afternoon ya'll, Lynn

Play That Funky Music White Boy

That is the only title that I can think of that comes close to my feelings this week. I posted on facebook that I was frustrated, aggravated, irritated and anything else you want to add to that. A facebook friend that
I went to school with asked to borrow it. I said sure, it's free. That was the one chuckle that I have had this week. The dreary weather that hung on and on didn't help any either. Even my hands are hurting. Maybe next week will be better when the sun is shining and I deal with some of the burdens that I have had. The sun will come out tomorrow....maybe that is my theme for next week.....Night ya'll, Lynn

It's a noon wedding, lunch, running in store quickly, and taking Joshua lunch in kinda day

Today was an unusual day. I woke up and worked til noon. Then James and I went to church where he performed a wedding ceremony. We then went to lunch and got Joshua a carry out tray. I ran in a store very quickly as it was going out of business. I got a new set of initials for my car. Back to work til 6 then back to church for revival. I was so disappointed. I took popcorn, drink, and a movie for the kiddies. One wasn't there and one was there and slept the whole time. Maybe tomorrow night. Home to eat chicken bog and Chopped with my sweetie. Night ya'll, Lynn

Man or I should say Woman on the Run Thursday, March 29, 2011

The last blog post that I wrote was March 12th I think. I am too busy. I was at Myrtle Beach last week and had limited and very slow internet con. so to my defense, it wern't easy to post. Just a little brag, the weather was gorgeous. Tuesday, it was 80 degrees and I come home to a frost warning. What is up with that?? We met a Canadian named Stevie B. I have not laughed that hard in a long time.
We have had two people saved and joined the church since I've been gone. If that happens then I'll gladly go back to the beach and suffer for some new church members!!
Church was packed tonight for revival. I took the two little ones downstairs so that they could play and the adults not be disturbed.
I was ready to get back to work today. I was ready to call some and see how they were doing. All is well at Alere and at the Rodgers household. Take care and nith ya'll, Lynn

When I walked into the kitchen this morning, I took a look at the bird feeder outside the window. It was covered with sparrows and then a family of red birds came to the feeder. They were so beautiful. The father was bright red and told me spring was on the way. I stood there and worshipped as I watched the birds feed and thought of the verse about God taking care of the sparrows and taking care of us. As a child of God, I love being taken care of. It's a feeling that us females like. Thank you God for caring for us. Afternoon ya'll, Lynn

15 February 2011

Yesterday was the Sweetest Day. I got up and started to work. On his way out the door, my sweetie walked by my office and he said,"there will be a delivery for you today." I waited all day and.... nothing. I had to leave for the chiropractor so I left. When I got home, there were 24 roses in a box, on top were 12 of my favorite doughnuts: red velvet with cream cheese frosting, glazed with chocolate frosting, and raspberry filled. And on top of that was.... a card. If I was smart, there would be a pic here. There is a pic on my facebook page. My swetie finished off the day with a yummy steak, baked potato, and grilled broccoli candlelight dinner. Great food, great company, great gifts = priceless!! Night ya'll, Lynn

Sinus, Sinus, Go Away!!

I woke up with a sinus headache and that ruled the day. We took Champ back to Dr. Mauldin, the vet, and they removed the stitches. Everything looked good except two or three areas where the stitches had almost ingrown into the skin. They bled a little bit. He also had a small little pimple that had popped up near the incision that Doc said would open and drain. He was shaking like a leaf when he realized where he was. He will not eat the treats that Doc tries to give him. Doc really likes Champ and he went out, got cheese and gave him 2 pieces of cheese and told him that they weren't all bad there. He is a great vet. Late visit, to CVS for meds, and then home. Night ya'll, Lynn

James and I went to my sister's and nephew's house on Friday and came home Saturday. It felt sooo good to get in MY bed last night. No bed sleeps better than your own. Thank you, Lord for soft beds. I'm going to make this short and sweet 'cause I'mm gonna take a nap. Sleep tight. Afternoon ya'll, Lynn

20 January 2011 Whew!!

I have had A day!! Usually, on Thursday, it is my Monday and I can breathe a sigh of relief and start over. I'm not complaining but I was on the phone for over 2 hours with one pt. It is hard talking with him sometimes because my brother-in-love had multiple myeloma, just like this pt. does. That's why I love my job. I can stay on the phone as long as I need to with them. I did get in touch with several pts. this afternoon so I am caught up. Maybe I can breathe tomorrow. Night ya'll Lynn
